LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Composite Techs for an opportunity in Littleton, CO

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

As a Technician working from engineering drawings, written work instructions and process specifications, you will assemble structural and precision mechanical components in a shop environment

 

Essential Functions:

 

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Aerospace paint, aerospace primer and other aerospace coating application using spray, brush, swab techniques.
  • Surface prep, using grit blast, hand abrade and power abrasion techniques
  • Prepreg and wet layup fabrication techniques, including vacuum bag processing, bonding, and oven/autoclave curing.
  • Tooling fabrication from various materials such as aluminum, composites, and wood.
  • Working with small shop power tools (saws, routers, sanders, and grinders).
  • Machine shop equipment operation (mill, lathe, table saw, band saw, etc)
  • Assembly of composite/mechanical structures including setup, bonding, and fastener applications.
  • Operation of measuring devices such as calipers, height gages, micrometers, and torque wrenches.
  • Installation and torqueing of fasteners, drilling, installation of rivets, adhesive bonding, measurement and shimming interfaces to close tolerances

Additional Technician responsibilities also include:

  • Desire to learn or develop basic skills within the technician job scope and ability to demonstrate learning agility to pass both written and hands-on certification requirements.
  • Ability to understand & read engineering and installation drawings.
  • Possess an understanding and safe use of hand tools such as Torque Wrenches, Sharps, Hand Drills, Small presses, Pneumatic tools etc.
  • Ability to use and understand calibrated hand tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers and gages in a production environment.
  • Ability to perform bonding operations with various adhesive materials.
  • Attention to detail
  • Use of personal protection equipment
  • Ability to work in small teams
  • Work to established schedules.
  • Employee’s should be able to work overtime as required and weekends if needed.

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Must work with safety glasses and/or goggles
  • Ability to work with small parts; requires frequent use of hands and fingers
  • Ability to read and execute written instructions
  • Ability to work in an environment containing low levels of solvents and adhesives.
  • Excellent hand and eye coordination required
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work with precision
  • Demonstrated ability working in a team environment
  • Basic familiarity with assembly and measuring tools, interpreting visual aids performing simple shop math.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers on a number line and understand how to calculate American weights, measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to work to the priorities of safety, quality and productivity.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 0- 3 years work experience
  • US Citizenship Required

Preferred Requirements:

  • A&P Certification or equivalent 2 Year degree
  • Ability to work in a clean environment that involves wearing smocks and gloves for extended periods of time. This includes working at flow benches to assemble very precise Mechanisms.
  • Previous Assembly experience in quality regulated environment.
  • Experience working to engineering drawings/schematics and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Ability to do light manual machining work for the creation of shop aids and tools to support build efforts is a plus.
  • Experience with electrical harness assembly (splicing/soldering/crimping) in a quality controlled environme
