Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under general direction.
Digital Receiver Technology, Inc. (DRT), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer (Education Requirements below) in Germantown, MD. DRT designs, manufactures, and markets DSP-based Software-Defined Radios (SDR) globally. Specific areas of expertise include DSP-based receiver design, communication systems theory, cellular/PCS/wireless communications, software, electronic packaging, digital and RF hardware design. Electronics packaging design. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience using 3D modeling tools, Creo is preferred. Must be able to conceptualize and design parts using a variety of fabrication processes. They must be able to create models of parts in CAD and create accurate and concise fabrication and assembly documentation that follow industry standards and communicate with a vast audience. Their designs must be optimized for cost and ease of manufacturing. They will also be involved in design reviews, component selection, perform tolerance analysis, and prototyping of new designs. Experience with injection molding plastics, vacuum forming plastics, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, connector selection, cable design, graphics design, and rendering in CAD.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Candidate must be able to obtain Secret Clearance
- BS degree and 5 or more years of experience
- Computer literate and Must be able to read and write training material/job material
- Must complete the training/OJT
- Must have minimum of 2 years of experience using 3D modeling tools, Creo is preferred

- Their designs must be optimized for cost and ease of manufacturing.
