Tooling Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Aerospace Quality Engineer for an opportunity in Orange City, Iowa.
Position Summary:
The Tooling Engineer is responsible for tooling design, and tool repair. This person will use Solidworks to modify any variances of tooling. This person will manage multiple tool repairs using internal equipment. This position will require the employee to operate manual and CNC metal working equipment. The Tool Technician will be able to communicate with other Engineers and listen to manufacturing to troubleshoot problems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to create the correct tools needed for the product being developed.
- Understand the needs of Manufacturing
- Use manual machining equipment to modify and repair tools
- Reading and creating G and M Code Programs
- Program CNC 3 axis Machining centers
- Be able to understand and follow the Engineering Change process.
- Provide accurate time estimates to production management on maintenance functions.
- Up to 5% travel may be required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Two year technical degree or 5 years’ experience preferred. Completed training in proper software structure and techniques.
- Utilize existing solid modeling software. (Solidworks)
- Program CNC 3 axis Machining centers
- Read and modify G and M Code Programs
- Ability to read and understand standard ISO drawings
- Understand and use GD&T
- Exposure to multiple machining processes a plus
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing a plus
- Familiarity with different molding processes beneficial.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Direct problem solving, searches for root cause and addresses issues
- Addresses conflict directly and works to resolve differences proactively
