Maintenence Mechanic
LAUNCH TransTechs is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic in Racine, WI responsible for repairs to all aspects of vehicles and/or school buses under the direct supervision of an immediate supervisor. Repairs will include but not be limited to preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, warranty procedures, driveline, steering & suspension, electrical trouble-shooting and AC.
Shift: 2nd
Pay: $18 per hour
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the maintenance of a clean, safe, effective and efficient work environment including Identifying and making recommendations to resolve unsafe maintenance conditions or practices.
- Works under the direct supervision of an immediate supervisor to receive hands-on training.
- Performs assigned vehicle and facility maintenance related duties as assigned in a safe and timely manner
- Arranges for and obtains appropriate inspections and approval of all repairs before vehicle is released from maintenance facility.
- Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
- Test-drives vehicles to ensure problem resolution.
- Ensures proper work methods and techniques and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State/Provincial and local regulations, requirements, standards and specifications and company policies.
- Maintains work, time and material and equipment maintenance logs and records for self.
- Prepares, completes and submits paperwork on time and correctly on vehicle maintenance.
- Basic computer skills needed in shop environment.
- Knowledge of and experience using diagnostic technology and related software to access technical information and enter data.
- General knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the assigned location (e.g. Federal, State, Provincial, local).
- General knowledge of practices, techniques, procedures, materials and appropriate use and maintenance of special tools and electronic test equipment commonly used in the diagnosis, repair, preventative maintenance and modification of vehicle maintenance to prescribe procedures, methods, and materials to assigned staff on complex repairs/projects.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, including handling of hazardous materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Equivalent of high school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of diesel maintenance/repair experience.
- Must have own tools.
- Must have steel toe boots.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
