Production Supervisor

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Expanding Avionics System Integration Company seeks a Production Department Supervisor. This position requires the candidate to not only be a technical expert but a leader of a team. The dynamics of the workplace environment require a steady hand and steadfast ideologies that are in harmony with the corporate goals of L2 and that always promote teamwork and enthusiasm for success and excellence in the workplace. The Production Department Supervisor strives daily to create an uneventful workday by remaining laser focused on schedule, planning and adherence to all Corporate policies and procedures as set forth in the company Quality Control Manual and SOP’s.
- The Production Supervisor will be proficient in all facets of the day to day operation of the production department.
- The Production Supervisor will be proficient in all facets of the L2 Quality system both internal and external inspection requirements of the production department.
- Process Build to Print Orders and assist manager in quote processing.
- Process all Wire Laser Marking only jobs that come through the department IAW current SOP’s.
- The production supervisor will have the knowledge to create production center project file folder and wire chart development IAW current SOP’s.
- Lead a Lean Event with the assistance of the department manager.
- Exceptional understanding of avionics component operation on aircraft as well as how our products interface with existing avionics systems.
- Interact with engineering department via Engineering Change Request Submittals, as well as a full understanding of the engineering documentation as applicable to the Manufacturing Process.
- Lead inspectors in the production department IAW all applicable technical specifications and L2 processes.
- Self-starter and requires no direction or direct supervision on a daily basis.
- Train and lead the team members, utilizing supervisory skills both acquired on the job as well as formal training.
- Stand in for Production Manager when required.
- Drives process improvement throughout the organization and is a leader of continuous improvement.
- Train others on more complex terminations such as coax, Ethernet, Quadrax as some examples.
- Operate avionics test equipment such as digital multi-meter, TDR, frequency generator etc. with proficiency.
- Ensure all work is done in accordance with company SOP’s (Standard Operating Processes) and any governing technical data such as aircraft manufacturer standard wiring practices or FAA applicable requirements for safe and high quality product completion.
- Be proactive in department Continuous Improvement Program and assisting in the creation and/or revision of existing SOP’s is required.
- Tool control, shop cleanliness, work area cleanliness is a daily responsibility as well as a dedication to producing top quality industry leading products.
Qualifications and requirements:
- High school diploma or trade equivalent
- An understanding of Manufacturing Engineering Documentation such as Assembly Orders, Electrical Schematics and Structures Drawings.
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Very Experienced with Aircraft Manufacturer Standard Wiring Practices
- A significant understanding of FAR Part 21 as applicable to PMA activities.
- Wire Harness, Cockpit Panel Build Up and Kit assembly experience
- Aerospace or aircraft Electrical and/or Mechanical assembly experience (preferred)
- Understanding and familiarity with handling electrostatic devices and components
- Experienced in working with various hand tools
- Solder experience (solder certification to IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001 desirable)
- Ability to read color-codes, assembly and harness drawings
- Excellent computer abilities particularly Microsoft Office.
- Full Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
