31 - Contract Diesel/Fleet Mechanics Long Term Contract - techs are eligible to go direct after 180 days if they live within City of St Louis limits. Idea is to keep techs on TT payroll indefinitely. These are not temp jobs, but more of full time jobs through TransTechs Shift: M-F 8am - 4:30pm (very limited OT) Pay Rates: 3 levels - these are determined by written guidelines in the job description Qualified Pay ST Up to $24 & OT $36 Bill Rate ST $39 Well Qualified Pay ST $26.75 & OT $40.13 Bill Rate ST $43.50 Highly Qualified Pay ST $30.50 & OT $45.75 Bill Rate ST $49.50 *5 techs for Hampton Shop and 1 for Central Shop *Can start any day of the week *Must obtain CDL within 180 Days of starting. City will assist with Training and Truck for test *Will be working on Dump Trucks, Aerial Trucks, Street Sweepers, Roll off Trucks and other medium/heavy duty trucks. Some brands include International, Freightliner, Pelican Sweepers. * 1900 Hampton Avenue (supports Streets, Traffic, Parks, Forestry, Water and other divisions * 1218 Central Industrial Court (supports Refuse vehicles) * 3929 Laclede Avenue (Supports Police, Fire, Building and other divisions *Techs will use City's punch-in system. Shop Foreman will be forwarding copies of those punch-in sheets to us. *Techs get 10 Holidays (Federal minus Columbus Day which is replaced by the day after Thanksgiving) and 10 Sick Time/PTO days paid by TransTechs *PTO/Holidays will not be permitted for first 90 days. Otherwise they may be scheduled 48 hours in advance with approval of the shop manager after accrual. The City shop manager shall approve PTO requests unless doing so would result in insufficient manpower to safely operate the shop for normally expected workload. Requests for PTO days subject to the 90 day minimum wait and accrual of the time which are made 60-days or more in advance shall be approved to permit making paid reservations and having an expectation that they will not be subsequently cancelled by the City. Approvals less than 60-days must be obtained before such reservations are made. Three instances of PTO days taken less then 48-hours' notice annually without provision of a doctor written documentation shall be grounds for dismissal. They can accumulate/carry over up to 30 days total *Techs will participate in Uniforms and Safety Boots program by the city For CDL Holders: 10 Year Crim DMV DOT DT DOT Physical For Regular DT: 10 Year Crim DMV Non-DOT 5 Panel DT Non-DOT Physical Qualifications: The City recognizes three technician qualification levels for purposes of this contract as follows: Diesel-Powered, Medium- and Heavy-Truck Technician (Fleet Maintenance Technician III (FMT III) Equivalent) - Qualified - formal training or work experience on all systems of medium- and heavy-duty trucks including diesel engines, air brakes, and hydraulic systems diagnostics and repair -and-; 1) 1-year* minimum full-time experience in a commercial or fleet maintenance and repair shop Well Qualified - formal training or work experience on all systems of medium- and heavy-duty trucks including diesel engines, air brakes, and hydraulic systems diagnostics and repair -and-; 1) completion of a formal journeyman program recognized by the US Department of Labor -or-; 2) 3-years* minimum full-time experience in a commercial or fleet maintenance and repair shop -or-; 3) be current in a minimum of 4 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) heavy truck series certifications -and- 1-year minimum full-time experience in a commercial or fleet maintenance and repair shop Highly Qualified - formal training or work experience on all systems of medium- and heavy-duty trucks including diesel engines, air brakes, and hydraulic systems diagnostics and repair -and-; 1) completion of a formal journeyman program recognized by the US Department of Labor -or-; 2) 5-years* minimum full-time experience in a commercial or fleet maintenance and repair shop -and- be current in a minimum of 4 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) heavy truck series certifications -or-; 3) current ASE Master Truck Technician status -and- 1-year full-time experience in a commercial or fleet maintenance and repair shop Submit to: Chris Amos amosc@stlouis-mo.gov CC: Arthur
