CNC Operator


LAUNCH is seeking Machine operators for an opportunity in Dillon, South Carolina.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Perform close tolerance machining. Operate all other machine shop equipment as required. Operate all manual machine tools including numerically controlled and tracing equipment to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, milling, etc. Grind wide variety of tools and cutters. Repair cutters, drills, and end mills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain job assignments consists of process sheet and program manuscript from lead or supervisor.
  • Set-up work in machine, using hoist or hand-controlled overhead crane.
  • Operate numerical controlled machines. Be familiar with general numerical control theory and how system operates.  Be able to recognize deviations from normal sound and motion patterns of the machines.
  • Set controls to operate at proper feed, speed and use coolants as required.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, level protractors, squares, verniers, gauge blocks, depth gauges, profilometers and  numeri-probe vidi-gauges in setting-up and machining work to required tolerances.
  • Check dimensions against process sheets, blueprints or sketches.
  • Stamp and record W-G #, serial numbers or other required numbers that have been removed in the machining process.
  • Maintain machines and work area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other related duties in the department as directed by supervision.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior machining experience equivalent to a multi-axis CNC Machine Operator a plus.
  • Prior experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints, sketches and process sheets and use of wide variety of precision measuring instruments a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Requires considerable judgment in operating all Machine Shop equipment.
  • Requires making decisions involving the use of some ingenuity and initiative and the ability to recognize erratic and unprogrammed machine performance.
  • Quality focused and strong attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. when needed
  • Constantly stand and walk throughout the workday
  • It is required to stand, walk & reach with hands & arms
  • Good coordination to operate several controls simultaneously
  • Heavy visual concentration required to reach precision measuring instruments and to observe cutting operations
  • Frequent use of physical skills to operate a wide variety of machines & tools working to close tolerances
  • Has use of electric cranes & hoists for lifting & moving forgings
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material
  • Constant use hands/fingers to grasp, pinch, pull, feel, or handle and manipulate parts and tools
  • Frequent repetitive motions
  • Constant requirement of specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
  • Constantly wear eye protection (Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required)

  • Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Must be willing to work overtime (as requested).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
