Senior Structural Engineer

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Structural Engineers for an opportunity in Georgetown, DE.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Structural Engineer will guide successful completion of major structural engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting development and production.

  • FAA data approval of drawings and structural analysis reports that demonstrate compliance with the Code of Federal (Aviation) Regulations in Parts 23, 25, 26, 27, 29 & 31.
  • Structural analysis reports prepared to substantiate aircraft repairs, or alterations to install equipment.
  • Static strength of aircraft components and installations is analyzed by obtaining internal loads through free-body, shear and bending moment diagrams, or numerical methods such as NASTRAN with PATRAN and then doing structural analysis using classical handbook solutions.
  • Coordinate the interface between engineering and subject FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER).
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques. Evaluates criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Act as a consultant for associates and others as a recognized authority within the field.
  • Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authorities.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend ways to improve quality and effectiveness of the company.
  • Document actions by completing timekeeping records.
  • Assure all relevant data is FAA approved for obtaining STC.
  • Develop reports to demonstrate FAA compliance for new interior configurations.
  • Responsible for initial / recurrent training requirements.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.E.) from four-year College or university equivalent Engineering discipline. 
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative or ODA Unit Member.
  • Eight to Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in aircraft structural installation and the regulatory requirements
