Flight Test Instrumentation Technologist

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Flight Test Instrumentation Technologist for an opportunity in Moses Lake, WA.

 

 

As part of a multicultural team, you will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and supporting testing of hardware for flight testing of aircraft. 
Working  from engineering instructions, procedures and drawings with limited guidance, fabricate, install, check-out, calibrate, diagnose, and troubleshoot instrumentation data acquisition systems and sensors.
This position will require planning, building and terminating various cable harnesses required in the instrumentation system and significant attention to detail to support safe testing.
 
 
Responsibilities 
            Assembly of components to aerospace standards working from blueprints, engineering orders, schematics, repair manuals and other technical documents
            Fabrication of support brackets and sheet metal parts
            Termination and installation of wire harnesses and tubing
            Work with engineers to review design concepts and provide feedback for ease of assembly
            Review, edit and follow work instructions for installation tasks
            Plan, communicate and execute installation steps for complex mechanical installations
            Work safely in aircraft environment 

Qualifications 
            Associates or 2 year technical degree along with a minimum of 1 year of flight test operations experience 
              -Or- 
              A minimum of 5 years’ experience in flight test operations in lieu of the degree
            Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
            Ability to defuse and resolve conflict among other team members
            Ability to use standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment 
            Must be capable and comfortable working within a diverse team environment

Desired 
            A&P license or equivalent experience
            Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts 
            Experience with measurement tools
            Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) 
            Ability to perform strain gage installations 
            Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools, and the ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.
