Apprentice Mechanic

LAUNCH TransTechs is looking for an Apprentice Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance on diesel-powered equipment.

Pay: $10.00 per hour, depending on experience

Shift: M-F 8AM-5PM

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Execute preventive maintenance program to keep vehicles and equipment in top condition and pass monthly inspections.
• Determine possible failures of School Bus, other fleet vehicles, and equipment to determine the necessary repairs and/or replacements.
• Repair School Bus, systems, and other components; replace systems or parts necessary to ensure the availability and good condition of vehicles and equipment. 
• Assist in determining a vehicle rotation program to ensure vehicles are available daily and in good condition.
• Prepare work orders in a timely fashion to make repairs to the vehicles and meet the demands of daily operations; make maintenance recommendations to improve vehicle performance. 
• Using the company purchase orders system, request spare parts needed for the maintenance of the buses.
• Maintain and prepare documents for each vehicle; record the repairs made to each vehicle in the fleet.
• Maintain tools, equipment and workshop area in order and inventory. 
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must have own tools.
• Must have steel toe boots.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
