Tooling Fabricator
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking entry level Tooling Fabricators for opportunity in Albany, Georgia.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate is responsible for using hand tools, machining, or welding equipment to fabricate, maintain, and/or repair Assembly Jigs, Assembly Fixtures, Shop Aids, and other tools.
- Performs a variety of manual labor and learning tasks relating to the fabrication and assembly of the various types of jig and fixtures. Performs bench and some machining operations to construct, alter and repair fabrication tools including dies, fixtures, molds, gauges, machine attachments, assembly tools, and others.
- As required, constructs a wide variety of metallic, plastic, wood, composite and fiberglass tools and parts.
- Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and power tools such as manual mill, lathe, drill press, band saw and sander.
- Works with Inspection to correctly fabricate assembly jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tools within specified tolerances.
- Proficient at using height gauges, micrometers, scales, gage blocks, knee blocks, protractors, reading drawings, and shop math.
- Safely and effectively uses shop equipment. Tools include, but not limited to, drill press, grinder, band and laydown saws, assorted power drills and hand tools for the purpose of fabrication and assembly of jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tooling.
- Safely and effectively operates forklifts and overhead cranes for fabrication and assembly of jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tooling.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in the vicinity of tooling used in aerospace manufacturing (rivet guns, drill motors, various saws, cutting tooling, and forming tooling). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Qualifications and requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Desire a candidate who has mechanical aptitude for fabrication/tooling and related experience.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
