Avionics Engineering Liaison

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking an Avionics Engineering Liaison with minimum 5 year's experience in airline engineering (engineering degree preferred), or equivalent heavy maintenance experience (A&P license/FCC license/QC experience preferred). This position is in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

? Responsible for aircraft engineering, configuration control, and obtaining modification and repair data.
? Ensure that approved data is used in the development of EOs and EAs that are used for the maintenance, repair and modification of fleet aircraft and appliances.
? Obtain regulatory approval when required for modifications/repairs performed on Kalitta Air aircraft and components.
? Ensure that each repair and alteration is analyzed to determine whether it is major or minor per 14 CFR requirements.
? Evaluate Federal Regulations, Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, ADs, SBs, SLs, and other notifications of in-service issues to ensure that the Kalitta Air Maintenance Inspection Programs are revised as necessary.
? Ensure that all necessary engineering documentation required to complete assigned projects is developed within the allocated time schedule. Issue project status reports to show progress and compliance with the established time table.
? Interface with the Structures/Avionics Engineer Manager to assist in developing corrective action plans based on in service history defect data.
? Coordinate with other Kalitta Air engineering staff to provide 24/7 technical support to Technical Services, Ground Operations, Flight Operations, and other Kalitta Air personnel.
? Interface with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, MRO facilities, outside engineering departments, regulatory agencies, and other outside agencies.
? Provide liaison engineering functions with manufacturers, outside overhaul agencies and engineering agencies.
? Interface with FAA DER Engineers when required to support Kalitta Air repairs and modifications.
? Develop product improvement modifications as directed by Kalitta Air management.
? Support integration of repairs/modifications for new and previously operated aircraft.
? Update manufacturer’s manuals and documents as applicable to ensure accuracy.
? Participate in industry working groups, steering committees, meetings, and conferences as requested.
? Perform other duties as assigned by the engineering Manager.

 

 

Qualifications and requirements:

? Minimum 5 years’ experience in airline engineering (engineering degree preferred), or equivalent heavy maintenance experience (A&P License/FCC License/QC experience preferred).
? Experience in reading and understanding Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Service Bulletins (SB) to determine:
   o Effectivity to the fleet (Group, Configuration, Condition)
   o Required actions & constraints
   o Required materials (parts & tooling)
   o Required number of persons & skill set, task hours, and aircraft        ground time to accomplish task
   o Applicable SB Work Instructions, Figures & Tables
? Working knowledge of large aircraft systems and structures (Boeing 747-400, 767-300 and B777F Series Aircraft).
? Working knowledge of large aircraft manuals (i.e. AMM, IPC, SRM, MPD, CPCP, SSID, NDT, RAG).
? Computer experience with Adobe, Aviation Data Bases, Microsoft Word and Excel.
? Working knowledge of development standards DO-178B, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761 and DO-297.
? PC computing programming and/or software development skills.
