Manufacturing Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for an opportunity in North Hills, CA.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides manufacturing expertise to solve difficult problems and continuously improve our manufacturing organization. Develops and implements optimal, cost- effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
Supports engineering in the development of new products for manufacturability and recommends and implements engineering changes for continuous improvement. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised product. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, and project management.
Individual will play a hands-on role in the daily execution of manufacturing plans for production; project tooling, manufacturing methods and processes, development of continuous flow manufacturing environment and the design, selection and implementation of new cost effective processes.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, metal cutting, tooling, and materials and recommends changes
- Identifies and implements new manufacturing methods and process modification recommendations for reduction of waste, cost.
- Prepares cost, utilization, efficiency, and other performance metric reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing shop floor data.
- Determine root cause analysis for problematical areas.
- Recommends and specifies new equipment and tools, providing manufacturing decision
- Process and update work order documentation
- Maintains compliance of all activities with quality control system.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researches, designs, and implements manufacturing methods and equipment/techniques that meet or exceed production cost targets and maintain quality.
- Participates in the resolution of issues such as: tooling and process requirements, rework methods, as well as corrective action processing to minimize future issues.
- Communicate with vendors to understand and determine product specifications.
- Assures product and process quality by testing process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
- Supports the manufacturing floor for any process related questions
- Participate and lead improvement projects on the manufacturing floor
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree in mechanical engineering technology or manufacturing engineering strongly preferred or a combination of other degree and work experience.
- 3 years of related work experience strongly preferred.
- Strong business acumen, understands operational metrics.
- Expertise in the following areas is preferred: CNC component design and fabrication, metal cutting, tooling geometry, machining, drilling, steel, and titanium materials.
- Motivated, assertive and a self-starter
- Knowledge of materials and associated physical properties, processing characteristics, coating and plating specifications.
- Strong computer skills – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AutoCAD
- Strong math skills.
- Strong understanding of ERP system functionality.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
