Shop Manager

Shift: 1st
Pay: $80k - $100k + Bonus + Paid Insurance
Equipment: double-decker sightseeing buses with Cummins, Caterpillar and/or Detroit Diesel engines
Shop Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all maintenance personnel within at this location.
- Lead and motivate all grades of maintenance staff, & ensure the workplace standards conform to Company standards.
- Ensure that all staff within the garage fully understand and comply with Company and statutory regulations, with regards to hours of work, health & safety and working practices.
- Manage, support and motivate supervisory staff and allocate them accordingly to ensure vehicle quality and service coverage is maintained.
- Ensure vehicles and their records are maintained in accordance with all Company and DOT statutory requirements.
- Ensure that sufficient vehicles are clean, reliable and available throughout the working day for allocation into operational service, to the company standards and provide on the road engineering support for all vehicles.
- Monitor material, utilization, holding and requirements of the department stores/materials stock.
- Plan and oversee the maintenance of all workshop and site plant, equipment and premises ensuring all OSHA legislation is adhered to.
- Provide a high level of technical expertise and support to maintenance staff, to ensure their skills and competence levels continually improve, and to identify training needs.
- Ensure that no malpractice occurs by monitoring and auditing systems and practices.
- Understand and comply with all Company and statutory regulations relating to hours of work; staff rules, regulations, and working practices.
- Attend managers' meetings reporting to the General Manager and produce monthly reports on health and safety, fleet maintenance and safety schedules, vehicle allocation performance, fleet annual test presentation to DOT, staffing levels and key projects.
Shop Manager Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be of professional appearance and manner
- Must have a valid Driver's License - CDL preferred
- Experience in diesel fleet management of at least 5+ years
- OSHA accreditation would be an advantage
- Prior knowledge of NY DOT standards, processes, and related regulations.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to ensure deadlines, and changes in business demands are met.
- Must be computer literate (Microsoft Suite).
- Must be able to get a Twic security card, as the location is located near the docks
- Previous experience with A/C systems, wiring, diagrams, etc. a plus
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
