Mechanical Engineer III

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III in Atlanta, GA.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate serves as an engineer driving commercial aircraft engine repair projects. This position works very closely with Fleet Engineering, internal shops, external vendors and MRO customers. The position will undertake tasks including but not limited to: - Develop repairs for commercial turbine engines. - Maintains compliance with applicable FAA, DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements and Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) and all other engineering processes. - Providing status for projects/issues through various briefings and documentation. - Preparing and conducting Engineering Working Group meetings. - Revising numerous FAA approved Manuals and Engineering Reports. - Collaboration and constant communication with Manufacturers, the FAA ACO and FSDO/CMO. - Irregular shift hours may be required, on rare occasion, due to critical requirements. - This may include weekend work depending on criticality of the issue. Occasional travel is required to support the programs. This position reports to the Manager of Engine Technology and Repair Development.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree from accredited school in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent.
  • Must be capable of working in a team environment to creatively, and quickly, solve technical problems. Good technical writing skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to effectively generate detailed engineering documents.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Individual will show the ability to interpret analytical reports, Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFRs), Airworthiness Directives (AD's), and other engineering documents/drawings while utilizing excellent problem solving skills using analytical methods.
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions and develop the documentation to support these decisions in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience with commercial aircraft and/or engines is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic PC skills and Microsoft Office software suite required.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred or other drafting / modeling programs is desired.
