Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for an opportunity in Bellingham, WA.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer leads a group of engineers in designing details, assemblies and installations for aircraft interior components

Qualifications and requirements:

• Bachelor degree in applicable engineering discipline or equivalent experience required
• Minimum 10 years in aerospace design with emphasis on retrofit/reconfiguration..
• Minimum 5,000 hours of CAD experience, preferably CATIA V5. 
• Manage program engineering hours to quoted budget.
• Manage scope of work and ensure work performed is per the SOW and RFQ.
• Ensure out of scope work is documented via Change Request (CR).
• Manage aircraft configurations and ensure compliance to technical specifications.
• Ensure proper interface between aircraft structure/systems and the interior product.
• Review and check configuration of LOPA/GA/SK drawings.
• Approve 2D drawings and 3D models for release.
• Provide accurate task completion and drawing release reports.
• Provide accurate labor estimates for quotes and cost to completes.
• Ensures EAMR’s, Trim and Finish dwgs and top-down BOM’s are completed to support on time delivery of parts.
• Provide technical guidance to the engineering group and promote design standards including the Approved Material List(AML).
• Engage methods to reduce lead time/costs of products.
• Interface with Purchasing/Vendors/Customers/Integrator
