Software Developer-Full Stack
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Software Developer-Full Stack for an opportunity in Lombard, IL.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Launch is looking for a talented Software Developer who has experience and interest in working on various areas in IFE (inflight entertainment equipment), streaming video and VOD, and statistical/operational data. Our satellite connectivity system is a unique and challenging environment to adapt modern open-source tools and techniques. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python, Linux, networking, and video technologies. The ideal candidate will focus on the airside equipment that contains avionic type equipment including: Arch Linux Server, Satellite tracking equipment, Cisco/Motorola Wireless AP, Hughes HX200 modems, etc.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in EE/CS or similar
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Software Development role
- Front End Stack: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Back End Stack: Python
- Database: MySQL
- At least 3 years’ experience using Linux
- ArchLinux
- RHEL
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable in an Agile software development model
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Coordinate allocation of servers with Satellite equipment
- Support Montreal’s office for development, testing and production environments
- Install/configure aviation equipment in a lab environment
- Integration and Testing of software
- Strong Linux user with good understanding of:
- Administering maintaining/updating (RHEL, Arch, Debian)
- Understanding of Networking (CCNA) concepts: TCP/IP, Firewalls, Vlan, Multicast, Cisco IOS
- Shell scripting, ssh/ftp, command line tools
- Network performance tools: iPerf, tcpdump, iostat, etc
- Android and IOS mobile phone/tablet development
- Knowledge of video technology and security: HLS, Mpeg Dash, RTP, DRM (Widevine, Verimatrix)
- Understanding of web portals: Squid, Apache, Pyramid a plus
- Understanding of electrical concepts a plus specifically motor control theory
