Storage Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Storage Engineer for an opportunity in Irvine, CA.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Storage Administrator’s role is to plan, deploy and manage storage environments as required per activities of the organization and ensure high levels of availability/security/performance of related business assets, applications, systems and workflows. He or she will act as an expert in storage, assume a critical “hands-on” role in IT projects and support across various platforms and multi-vendor storage systems (SAN/NAS/DAS). The individual will be accountable for the health of the systems under his responsibility, will participate to 24x7 efforts in case of emergency or critical issues, and will sometime have to work out of regular business hours to conduct maintenances on the infrastructure or participate to special projects.
More specifically, the person will be required to:
- Plan, deploy, monitor and manage storage systems and related networking components
- Redact and maintain infrastructural documentation
- Monitor customer requests (tickets); resolve or escalate, as appropriate
- Ensure accurate and non-impactful changes are implemented in the production environment
- Track SAN hardware and software maintenance
- Interact with infrastructure, services or content teams to support storage requirements
- Ensure the availability and performance of the systems under his responsibility
- Troubleshoot and fix issues on systems (servers, network, storage, appliances)
- Perform backup and recovery, tape utilization, reporting, problem solving and management of multi-vendor storage systems
- Assist IT Services on escalated issues and resolutions
- Assist other team members in their work
Qualifications and requirements:
- 7-8 years of pertinent IT administration experience progressively moving toward a speciality in Storage Administration
- Expert level on storage array installation, configuration and administration (NetApp, EMC, Nimble, Atempo and other brands)
- Experience in storage allocation, upgrades and optimizations standards
- Experience in storage performance tuning
- Implementation and analysis of proactive monitoring tools
- Installation, configuration and administration of networking components related to storage
- Hands-on deployment and administration of VMWare platforms
- Experience on DR, backup and archival systems (Commvault, Symantec Netbackup, Backup Exec, VEEAM, ASG Atempo, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
ASSETS
- Has worked in a media content, post-production or other large storage environment
- NetApp certification (NCDA, NCSE)
- VMWare certification
- Microsoft MCSE or MCP certification
- CCNA certification
- Experience on file transfer systems: Signiant, Aspera, Smartjog
- Experience on the following products: HP Flexfabric, NetApp FAS/E-Series/StorageGRID, ASG Atempo, EMC Celerra/Isilon/VNX
- Experience on digital media workflow, encoding or transcoding software (Digital Rapids, Selenio)
