2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic

 

We are currently looking to hire a full time maintenance mechanic on the 2nd shift for our food production facility in La Grange, IL. The position pays up to 28/hour and can interview and start ASAP.

 

Shift: 2nd

Pay: 30/hour

 

This position has greater authority as compared to a Mechanic and  will take responsibility for the Maintenance Department while the Maintenance Supervisor is off site or not available.

Ensure Change over’s are completed and monitor schedule changes which will impact

Required change over’s.  May contact vendors for parts and or emergency repairs. 

Position has authority to call for outside service without prior notice to the Maintenance Supervior.

Act as Lead on various projects assigned and provide daily report on equipment needs or repairs.

Convey direction to 2nd shift maintenance personnel as planned with the maintenance Super.

Primary contact for training new mechanic hires. 

 

Primary:

Follow instructions given by the Maintenance Supervisor.  Must be able to communicate in English.

Take direction from Line Supervisors pre and post conducting tasks in a Production Department

So that Food Safety is never compromised. 

                Maintain equipment powered by: Electric, Air, Hydraulic, Steam (low to 90 psig)

                Complete PM schedule requirements.

                Clerical duties such as complete necessary paperwork (Work orders) neatly/legibly/timely.

                Update parts inventory levels.

                Communicate effectively with site Supervisors and line personnel.

               

Set-up/Change-over equipment.

Follow verbal and written instructions for machine set-up, operation and cleaning.

Have a general Operating knowledge of all Equipment on site.

Clerical duties such as: Complete Production line paperwork to record daily production such as:

Attend Pre-production meetings as well as other specified meetings.

Take part in various meetings and supply input: Safety, Quality, New product development, R&D, etc..

 

                Food Safety Defense:

                Adhere to all SQF// Customer directives which are designed to support Food safety.

                Obtain written sign-off on both Preventative maintenance as well as non-routine maintenance tasks,

                when completed so that Line Supervisors are aware or can direct Sanitation activities are sufficient.

 

                Safety of co-workers and Site: equipment and premises.

                Participation in Safety meetings and demonstrations.  Examples are but not limited to:

                Lock/Out-Tag/Out, Proper Machine Guarding, Hot Works and Safe Electrical Practices,

                Proper lifting technique to being used at all times.

                Emergency stop buttons or disconnets to be identified for machine being worked on and understood how

                To effectively operate.

                Awareness of  site High pressure steam and heat exposure.

                Identify any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used:  Gloves, safety, Glasses, ear plugs,

                Oxygen deficiency  monitoring devices.

                Responsible for the immediate Notification to Maintenance Supervisor of any injury or unsafe condition

                in a work area.

            Monitor work area for general safety concerns as a routine/daily practice.    

 

 

   Education/Experience

 

                High School or equivalent formal education

                5 years Food equipment Mechanical experience

                5 years electrical trouble shooting experience (110 – 480 v)

                Set-up, maintain and repair Food processing equipment such as: Steam jacket kettles, grinders,

Rotary Fillers, Seamers, auxiliary equipment.

 

Set-up, maintain Packaging equipment such as:  Flexible packing VFFS, Labelers, auxiliary

Equipment.

Must be able to communicate in English (spoken and written).

                Welding experience/Safety

                Must supply own tools

                Must make use of a daily planner/note book

              

                                Previous training and awareness of: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and

                                Hazard Analysis Critical Control Processes (HACCP)

 

   Skills

                Flexibility:  Handle changes in schedule/set-ups

                Good sanitations skills: Sufficiently cleans and ensures Food safety is not compromised via Mechanical

                Work both personally and in observance of  Contractors.

                Knowledge of the English Standard. 

                Knowledge of the Metric System. 

                Mechanical aptitude a plus

                Fork lift experience a plus.  No fork lift driving allowed until training is provided
