Certification Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Certification Engineer with extensive aerospace manufacturing experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Working within a cross-functional and cross-divisional engineering environment, the Certification Engineer is responsible for coordinating and performing regulatory compliance activities required to support the development and installation of aircraft components, assisting with sustaining activities for certifications, and supporting foreign authority validations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
The Certification Engineer works under the direction of the Manager, Certification Engineering to perform the following:
Support preparation of technical proposals for customers by reviewing and interpreting regulatory compliance specifications and requirements. Includes providing certification engineering labor and schedule estimates for the proposed project.
Support Program Management in the creation and maintenance of certification project schedules, resource assignments, and budgets. Includes establishment of certification milestones required to complete projects.
Identify the regulatory compliance requirements during project conceptual phase. Generate or assist with development of project compliance matrix.
Create preliminary project specific certification plan (PSCP), compliance checklist, and conformity inspection plan and complete project application.
Work closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in managing, refining, and achieving PSCP objectives to ensure that all agreed upon product specific certification requirements are met.
Review drawings and reports to ensure conformity to regulatory requirements. Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies that could impede regulatory approval of the design data package.
Develop or direct generation of substantiation documentation including detailed test plans, reports, analyses, issue papers, and compliance documentation. Review to ensure that deliverables show compliance with customer, functional, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare or assist with development of conformity inspection plans and conformity requests. Actively work with Quality Assurance and project inspection designees to ensure accomplishment of project conformity inspections and documentation.
Submit data as necessary and provide certification and technical liaison with appropriate regulatory agency groups such as aircraft certification, flight standards, manufacturing inspection, and continued airworthiness.
Research regulations, develop data, and create final documentation in response to FAA or foreign regulatory agency requests. Effectively communicate responses to FAA or foreign regulatory agency in a timely manner.
Recommend and participate or lead organizational improvement initiatives that involve cross-functional team settings and responsibilities.
Communicate with customer to establish understanding of customer’s technical requirements and convey certification capabilities and requirements.
Enhance technical knowledge by routinely reading technical publications, enrolling in educational courses, and engaging in professional associations.
Provide complex training to team members and/or personnel in other departments.
Qualifications and requirements:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering or related field of study with ten (10) or more years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered. Aerospace and aircraft structures experience is preferred.
Strong MS Office skills: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.
Skills in the use of 2D and/or 3D design software a plus.
Optimally utilize all channels of communications.
Ability to prioritize workloads and show flexibility to changing situations/demands.
Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality.
