Mechanical Design Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Egnineer for an opportunity in Fort Worth, TX.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of mechanical engineering projects. Maintains good working relationships with production staff, and outside contractors. Supports team members and ensures that established goals and deadlines are met. Keeps superiors informed of status and significant problems. Supports the quality management system and quality objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs individual design and assembly projects, under general supervision.
- Creates conceptual designs for interiors of the aircraft through 3D modeling software, drawings, and/or drafting application.
- Design responsibilities primarily involve engineering design of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft. Examples include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments, interior peripheries, PSU, cabin liners, ledges/dados, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations.
- Provides designs and bill of materials for the fabrication process, this includes detailed assemblies, and installations of specialized components using composites, sheet metal, welding and machined part techniques.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area staff and management.
- Solve onsite production problems including but not limited to changing engineering drawings, write engineering dispositions and or develop engineering repair drawings.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in mechanical engineering or aircraft related field.
- Extensive experience in the specific field is considered as an alternative.
- 3+ years of previous design experience.
- Experience with honeycomb sandwich panel cabinet construction
- Proficiency in CAD software CATIA V6
- Knowledge of General Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
- Design secondary aircraft structure along with installations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of progressive experience.
- Previous design experience.
- Experience with aircraft structural repairs a plus
- Knowledge of aircraft design concepts, industry design standards, and FAA regulations a plus
- Experience with FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) modifications a plus
- Experience working with the FAA and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) a plus
- SolidWorks and AutoCAD a plus
