Weights Engineer

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Weights Egnineer for an opportunity in Fort Worth, TX.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will have ownership of mass data and reporting with responsibility for component and aircraft weight and center of gravity calculations.  Tasks include predicting monument weights, actively weighing individual components, monitoring supplier/vendor weights, preparing weight and balance reports and analysis, performing weights design calculations and preparing weight optimization studies. Responsible for monitoring, documentation and validation of the weight during the design development:
 
• Advising the design department at weight estimates during the early design phase
• Creation of weight status reports for development programs
• Communication with customers
• Weight comparisons of various development programs
• Improve the possibilities of weight prediction, for example by introducing a weight database
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for monitoring, documentation and validation of the weight during design development
• Advising the design department at weight estimates during the early design phase
• Creation of weight status reports for development programs
• Communication with suppliers on component weight.
• Weight comparisons of various development programs
• Improve the possibilities of weight prediction, for example by introducing a weight database. Assist in process evaluation to help optimize unit productivity
• Support design engineers in developing, documenting, creating, and improving new products and more efficient processes.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve performance, increase yields, and minimize product cost and weight.
• Identify and document capabilities and limitations of processes.
• Evaluate manufacturing and installation discrepancies and assists in determining effective solutions.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for process, unit, and company reports
• Assist with writing manufacturing instructions and process improvements.
• Assist in the compilation of data, generation of reports, and preparation of presentations.
• Assist in writing necessary government, company, and industry reports.
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area staff, clients, and management
• Keep superiors informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives. 
• Assist and support engineering personnel. 
• Support area staff with day to day optimization and troubleshooting.
• Responsible for related duties as required or assigned
• Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Complete continuing education as necessary
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field.
• Understanding of Company operations and procedures.  
• Knowledge of related regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of analytical processes and concepts. 
• 0-2 years of related experience.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Previous Mass Engineer/Analyst or Stress Engineer experience helpful.
