Tool Maker

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Tool Maker for an opportunity in Arlington, WA

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a candidate with Tool Making experience, reporting directly to Shop Manager. This person should have strong machining knowledge including but not limited to vertical and horizontal mills (3, 4, and 5-axis), tool condition, speed/feed calculation, and ability to machine to and hold tight tolerances, blueprint reading, and understanding of GD&T. A back ground in a high tech, aerospace quality machine shop is desired. Duties will include creation of tooling (including press dies, machine sub plates, and work holdings), modifying existing tooling, and maintaining tooling. Selected individual will coordinating with programmers and shop manager to fulfill tooling needs using technical expertise to assist in job planning and execution.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a tool maker role and 10+ years of machining experience utilizing a variety of mills including Bridgeport's and lathes.
  • Superior critical thinking skills to allow for full understanding of a task.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gages.
  • Proficient in use of machine and hand tools including band saws, disc sanders, die grinders, etc.
  • Experience machining a wide range of materials including composites and soft, hard, and exotic metals.
  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly of punch press and brake press tooling.
  • Solid knowledge of G and M code with ability to edit code as needed.
  • Possesses strong mathematical skills.
  • A take pride in your work attitude.
  • Reads and understands drawings, blueprints and CNC programs to determine dimensions, tolerances and set up of material and parts on horizontal mill.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on variety of machines.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Successfully working within a team-orientated, warehouse environment.
  • Effective communicate in verbal and written language.
  • Optimizing procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Team oriented.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to listen, ask questions, document actions, communicate irregularities, update logs, and provide feedback to improve performance.
  • Strong problem solving skills, analytical.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical and cost consciousness.
  • Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
