Composite Repair Operator 

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Composite Repair Operator for an opportunity in Windsor, CT.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Remove, fabricate, replace and install/reinstall aircraft engine part repairs from blueprints, verbal instructions, engineering disposition and repair manuals to meet customer requirements.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Removes skins and related components on parts such as trailing edges, top and lower leading edge skins, thrust reversers and secondary structures and exhaust cones.
  • Create mold using composites, plaster, or other materials.
  • Perform Lay-up and vacuum bag activities as specified.
  • Perform trimming, dimensional checks and cure accuracy.
  • Perform fixturing, priming, painting and part assembly.
  • Select tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
  • Fabricate composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of dry fitting in preparation for bonding/curing in presses and ovens.
  • Perform all other similar or related duties as directed.
  • Use of manuals, specifications and use of measuring instruments where interpretation is required involving basic skill knowledge.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of auto body, fiberglass, or carbon fiber repair experience. Initiative and
  • Ingenuity: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limits of recognized standard methods or procedures.
  • Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Mental or Visual Demand: Flow or work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination.
  • Working Conditions: Good shop working conditions. Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. 
  • Math and computer technology skills as well as the ability to read and use measurement tools. 
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to client safety procedures and regulations.
  • Must be willing to perform other functions and duties as assigned by managers and supervisors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
