Service Writer
Ft Lauderdale, FL
Shift: Monday - Friday 3:30pm - Midnight
Pay: $15-$17 per hour depending on experience
Service Writer Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the efficient operation of and control of work requests, and supports the maintenance activities of the location.
- Directly interacts with other departments and the client.
- Provides customer satisfaction through clerical shop and telephone support.
- Opens work request immediately upon receipt, and closes work request immediately upon completion of quality inspection.
- Runs and reviews AQR reports, board check reports, open work order reports, and any reports as needed for the location to insure workflow through the shop.
- Reviews DVCR (Customer Write Up forms) and takes appropriate action, as required.
- Answers telephone for shop lines and schedules repair appointments.
- Communicates with customer and user departments with updates to the status of the unit being serviced.
- Maintains a log of this communication.
- Maintains vehicle information files.
- Takes road call information, communicates with Lead Technician, Shop Supervisor, or General Manager to dispatch mechanic or outside service.
- Contacts outside vendors to arrange mechanical repairs, using the information given.
- Arranges pick-up of outside repairs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Service Writer Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years in a similar position preferred
- Strong typing and data entry skills required
- Computer literate with an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word, email, and database applications
- General knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of the use and operation of tools and machinery used in vehicle and equipment repair work.
- Understands the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
- Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
- Must be able to pass DOT Physical
- Must be able to pass CRIM & DMV Checks
- Must be able to pass FMCSA DOT Drug Screen
- Must be able to pass EMP Check EDU Check
