IFE Systems Engineer

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Design Engineer for an opportunity in Atlanta, GA

 

Position Summary

 

Evaluates existing product designs and performance to improve reliability and functionality. Develop and maintain reliability metrics, understand LRU failures, and engage suppliers (and sub-suppliers) in FMEA and RCA. Reviews supplier Service Bulletins and issues Delta paperwork for fleet implementation; including Software and Hardware changes. Participates in review of supplier manual changes, provides feedback, and follows through to incorporation in Delta Technical Publications. Supports Wi-Fi design team and Cabin Maintenance IFE/IFC Reliability Team. Position is located in ATL and candidate must be willing to travel up to 50%, sometimes with little notice. Ideal candidate takes initiative and maintains a continuous improvement mentality. 

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Implement the system architecture in conjunction with marketing and product line development for various aircraft platforms. 
  • Serve as the main technical interface for the aircraft platform between the airframer, product line manager and airlines. 
  • Participate in project design review meetings to ensure design meets intended requirements.
  • Develop system engineering test plans and assure the execution of the plan and reports. Develop relationships with Airframer and retrofit engineering teams, leading to successful system integration and collaboration. 
  • Collect and document system architecture and cabin system interface requirements into system specifications and block diagrams. 
  • Define system engineering evaluation, functional, and operational testing. 
  • Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. 
  • Position will require both domestic and international travel.  
  • Must be very detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Skills & Abilities

 

  • B.S. in engineering or related scientific field. EE, IE, or CS preferred. 
  • At least three (5) years direct engineering work experience, two (2) of which in an IFE engineering role. 
  • Must possess working knowledge of electronic system design techniques and engineering specifications and drawings. 
  • Must have strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency with CAD systems and MS Office programs. 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have good interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, critical thinker with project management skills. Knowledge of aircraft interior cabin electrical, avionics and entertainment systems. 
  • Solid understanding of industry standards.
