Composite Bonder

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking experienced Composite Technicians with experience performing lamination and lay-up.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

    1. Laminator (composite lay-up)
      1. Wrap and form composite materials to plaster molds and mandrels in preparation for oven or autoclave curing processes
    2. Trim:
      1. loading parts into trim tools; running parts through band saws or trimming parts with hand routers; palm sanding cut surfaces to remove “fuzz”; applying resin slosh to parts (very similar to painting parts with a paint brush; applying bead material to end of parts; ability to flex over to breakout area where bagging material is removed from cured parts and plaster is broken out using a pneumatic hammer.
    3. Paint:
      1. Prep parts for paint – apply fill and fair material, sanding to specified finish standards (lots of hand work and hand sanding); masking of parts prior to paint.
    4. Final Assembly
      1. Bonding composite parts together using various adhesives (mixing adhesives correctly); using fixtures to install various details (bonding spuds, installing brackets, etc.); assembling parts (installing brackets, nut plates, wrapping and taping parts in insulation; applying markings (sleeve index stripes, saddle marks, etc.) to parts; riveting nut plates; bonding sleeves.
    5. Plaster (Pit and Demold):
      1. Filling molds with liquid plaster, moving molds around floor and on rollers; taking apart molds using screw guns; sanding parting flash from plaster mandrel; paint application of release agent. This work is very manual and physically demanding.
