Tanker Diesel Tech / Tanker Mechanic

Shift: 1st Shift: 8:00am -5:00pm
Pay rate $32-35 per hr. Higher rate based on Tanker Exp. and Hazmat certs and experience.
Job Duties include, but not limited to the following:
Job Description: Fleet Mechanic
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of company owned Fleet trucks in accordance with DOT and company requirements. Incumbent will be required to maintain trucks, tankers and pertinent equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; completing repairs in a fast paced environment while providing the lowest possible maintenance cost for the company.
An excellent attendance record is required.
Job Duties include, but not limited to the following:
• Utilize safe work procedures to foster a safe work environment.
• Repair and maintain Fleet Vehicles in accordance with all governmental and company requirements.
• Tracking and scheduling of all fleet maintenance including Preventive Maintenance, Truck permits and registrations, Annual tank testing and truck inspections, Fire extinguishers and other safety equipment.
• Organizes and maintain fleet records and requirements per company and regulatory guidelines.
• Performs parts ordering and garage inventory
• Submits invoices to billing department.
• Demonstrates ability to purchase tires and maintain tire inventory
• Maintains garage equipment and work area in a clean ,orderly and safe manner
• Support, steward and assist in developing fleet expense savings and controls.
• Transporting of vehicles between local repair shops
• Assist in identifying, completing warranty repairs and recouping warranty reimbursement
• Performs other tasks and projects deemed necessary by fleet management.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Diesel Tractor Trailer Mechanic
Preferred Tanker and Hazmat exp. Higher pay if skilled
Equipment: Peterbilt trucks & tanker trailers
Complete Set of Tools
Air Brake Certification
CDL is a plus
ASE Certification is plus
Key Competencies:
Ability to work unsupervised, self-motivated.
Working knowledge of DOT, EPA, OSHA,
DOT Drug and DOT Physical required.
Preferred but not required.- `Tanker and Hazmat requirements
Excellent diagnostic skills
Basic computer and data entry skills
Strong operational and maintenance background
Note: Uniforms are provided, but must be cleaned by the contractor. Also contractor is required to be on call.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Frequent lifting up to 25lbs., occasional lifting to 50lbs.
• Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day
• Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day
• Occasional working at heights up to10ft.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather
