Diesel Shop Lead

 

Shift: 1st, Mon. - Fri. 
Pay: $18-$25 per hour, depending on experience

 

Diesel Shop Lead Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety first in all actions.
  • Work in tandem with Facility managers in your assigned area of responsibility to help prioritize equipment to be serviced on a daily basis.
  • Repair responsibility for all assigned equipment removed from operations control or in repair at your facility.
  • Prioritizing DVIR for repairs based on electronic reporting
  • Assure all work orders assigned to maintenance technicians are completed in a timely manner.
  • Review and complete work orders to be sure the coding of both labor and parts is properly segregated between reason for repair codes and is also inclusive of all parts charged to complete the repair or service.
  • Determine the best method of repair – using an outside facility or repairing equipment in-house.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside repair vendors in local areas with the support of the Fleet
  • Maintenance Manager when using outside repair vendors.
  • Assure maintenance personnel are properly utilized.
  • Determine proper staffing of your shop locations.
  • Work closely with the Facility managers in your assigned facility to provide direction, guidance, and counseling of technician’s.
  • Review shop and maintenance processes and scheduling with Facility managers to ensure safety, compliance, and best practices.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor shop technicians on efficient, best practices and procedures.
  • Any other duties assigned to support operations.

Diesel Shop Lead Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a maintenance manager in transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must have steel toe boots.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
