  1. MUST PASS PLATE TEST
    1. Paper test
    2. Section is for them (resources) to set their countersink depth.  “Practice”
    3. Install three fasteners – candidates have 1 hour to complete this
      1. 1) Hi-Lite
      2. 1) Countersunk Hi-Lite
      3. 1) Countersunk Rivet
    4. Note: If the candidates go straight to the test portion and they get it wrong, without adjusting their countersink depth, they fail the test.
    5. Effective 1/29/24, Spirit is adding additional testing to mechanics that will add an additional ½ day
      1. Countersinking of holes and fastener installation. A full plate using 6 different styles of fasteners and includes drill-out of 9 fasteners.
    6. Per client - ***DO NOT SUBMIT CANDIDATES who cannot pass a plate test, we do not want to waste the clients time***
  2. Must have 10+ years of experience. If they are not strongly skilled then they need more years of experience.
    1. However, must have 5 years minimum with heavy structure and skin change work
  3. Manager is specifically looking for those with a lot of experience on AFT Bulkhead repair and skin change.
    1. Perform MRB work statement at end of line (EOL) and final product verification (FPV) on off shifts.
    2. Performs a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies to engineering.
      • Typically performs rework created by other shops
    3. Typically does not perform bar line / standard in-process work
    4. Stabilize / balance jack system and cradles before starting skin change
    5. Remove and replace skins and major MRB that cannot be accepted to engineering drawings outside of normal shop environment
    6. Convert detail skin / structure into engineering configuration through the match drilling process
    7. Troubleshoot all major structural repairs per engineering and remove / replace all necessary parts to bring airplane back into compliance.
  4. Must be able to start ASAP and be able to work any shift needed
  5. Candidates will be performing MRB work statement at end of line (EOL) and final product verification (FPV) on off shifts.
  6. Performs a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies to engineering.
    1. Typically performs rework created by other shops
    2. Typically does not perform bar line / standard in-process work
    3. Stabilize / balance jack system and cradles before starting skin change
    4. Remove and replace skins and major MRB that cannot be accepted to engineering drawings outside of normal shop environment
    5. Convert detail skin / structure into engineering configuration through the match drilling process
    6. Troubleshoot all major structural repairs per engineering and remove / replace all necessary parts to bring airplane back into compliance.
  7. Must be cleared by Tuesday to start the following Monday. Start classes are now limited to 25 contractors per class.
  8. Must wear sturdy, full-cover, low heeled shoes in shop areas
    1. Safety steel-toed shoes/boots
  9. Must not be in dresses, skirts, or have jewelry to avoid accidents and injuries

Week 1 – Responsibilities / Expectations / Culture / Environment

    3. Stabilize / balance jack system and cradles before starting skin change
    4. Remove and replace skins and major MRB that cannot be accepted to engineering drawings outside of normal shop environment
    5. Convert detail skin / structure into engineering configuration through the match drilling process
    6. Troubleshoot all major structural repairs per engineering and remove / replace all necessary parts to bring airplane back into compliance.
  4. Busy environment – requires flexibility and ability to work independently and provide support wherever needed.
  5. Must have ITAR documents ready to go on first day
  6. Candidates will be required to wear sturdy, full-cover, low heeled shoes in the shop areas
    1. Safety steel-toed shoes/boots
  7. Dresses, skirts, and jewelry are not allowed in the shop areas

  • Functional test and correct, fit form and function of assemblies and components.

  • Squeeze rivets common to interior structure
  • Remove Hi locs
  • Install Hi locs
  • Perform cut and splices
  • Pull holes
  • Oversize holes
  • Layout holes by hand
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings (blueprints)
  • Ability to install freeze plugs
  • Install bushings
