LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Aircraft Painters with aircraft repair experience for an opportunity in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepare, paint, and detail aircraft as scheduled using company quality standards and operating procedures and in accordance with manufacturer and customer specifications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Safely perform preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft under minimal supervision.
• Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals.
• Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms and paint sprayers.
• Mask and unmask required areas of aircraft to facilitate painting operations.
• Strip aircraft with paint remover, sanding skin and seal aircraft, as required.
• Wash and prepare aircraft using appropriate and approved cleaning solutions.
• Prepare surface and apply primer to aircraft for the sanding procedure.
• Sand aircraft skin smooth and apply top-coat application to aircraft per customer approved design.
• Assist layout and paint stripes, shapes and graphics per customer approved designs.
• Assist in detail phase of aircraft for customer delivery.
• Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools.
• Work with and accept guidance from management, leads and higher skilled technicians. Assist/train less experienced technicians, as needed.
• Recognize and troubleshoot problems as they arise, alerting management regarding potential concerns.
• Comply with safety rules and procedures and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk. Use personal protective equipment as required.
• Assist with aircraft movement in and out of hangars.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an aviation paint technician working on commercial or corporate aircraft.
• Able to use tools and equipment associated with the aircraft painting process.
• Hands-on experience working with standard spray paint equipment such as electrostatic paint guns, cup guns, HVLP guns, etc.
• Strong buffing and polishing skills of urethanes and acrylic clear coats.
• Eye for precision and attention to details.


DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Six 6 years’ experience in painting corporate aircraft or VIP jet aircraft.
• Design, layout and graphic experience.


LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.


MATH ABILITY:
Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra, fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations. Able to calculates mix ratios in order to mix sealant, filler materials, and paint.

 

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER SKILLS:
Able to become efficient in company technology and software programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. Regular exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to explosives and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.

Able to consistently wear eye, hearing, foot, hand, respirator, and other protective equipment/safety gear is a necessary for this role. Able to climb ladders and stairs and work from heights (may exceed 30 ft); Ability to stand for long periods of time. Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste and smell. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Background Check
• Must be able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification and wear a respirator.
• Ability to become certified on a forklift, scissor lift, etc.
• Able to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends when necessary.
• Current, valid Driver’s License
