Staff Accountant
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant with 5+ years of experience for opportunity in Marana/Tucson, Arizona.-Will support BOTH location.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide accounting support to the Finance and Accounting department
WORKING CONDITIONS
Potential Hazards: Exposure to hazardous materials and heat stress.
Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Telephone, personal computer, printer, adding machine, copy machine, facsimile machine.
Work Location: Finance Offices (second floor), other first and second floor departments/offices.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs month end accounting closing procedures
- Prepare balance sheet account and bank reconciliations
- Preparation of journal entries and accounting projects as assigned
- Preparation of audit work papers
- Understanding and proficiency in fixed assets accounting; including capitalization of projects, analysis of operating versus capital leases and preparing monthly depreciation journal entries, and reconciliations
- Inventory accounting including documentation, analysis and recording transactions correctly in general ledger
- Facilitating analysis of financial statements and preparation of costing reports
- Preparation of sales tax and property tax returns
- Perform weekly cash flow analysis
- Responsible for monthly inter-company account reconciliations
- Perform special projects as needed for the CFO and Controller
Marginal Job Functions:
- Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions
- Good understanding of work in progress inventory accounting
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated
- Strong understanding of ERP accounting systems
SMS REQUIREMENTS
- Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance
- Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries
- Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; strong attention to detail and numerical skills; strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); ability to maintain accurate accounting records and perform monthly Account Reconciliations; ability to work without supervision. Advanced knowledge of Excel required.
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA certification a plus. MBA degree a plus.
Experience: Five years experience in accounting, month end procedures and audit preparation.
Other: May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
