Chief Inspector
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Chief Inspector with 3+ years of experience for opportunity in Marana/Tucson, Arizona.-Will support BOTH location.
JOB PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance Auditor is accountable to the Director of QA and EHS and Continuous Improvement for work assigned and managed by the Manager of Quality Assurance. The selected individual will ensure that tasks performed are compliant with Ascent Aviation Services FAA accepted Repair Station Manual Quality Control Manual (RSM/QCM), applicable FAA regulatory and customer requirements, and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines for which Ascent Aviation Services is rated e.g., EASA, TCCA, ISO, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time, frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level. Will require occasional crawling, crouching, kneeling, and balancing, as well as frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weight up to 10 pounds. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Ladders, stands, Powered Lifts (Scissor/Boom), flashlights, magnifying glasses, and standard office equipment.
Work Location: The primary assigned location will be at the Marana, AZ facility with required rotational travel to the Tucson, AZ, and Roswell, NM facilities to complete assigned quality assurance tasks.
Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, exposure to adverse weather, and materials known to be hazardous as identified on Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Working at heights and around moving machinery and various aircraft.
Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses as required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Effective communication with interdepartmental personnel and outside agencies including but not limited to the FAA, EASA, ISO, C.A.S.E., and customer audit personnel.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal and follow-up audits and provide ongoing objective evaluations of processes and documentation in accordance with FAA, EASA, and C.A.S.E. 1A and AS9100 standards.
- Generate comprehensive detailed audit reports identifying deficiencies to provide data for use in the correction of those deficiencies to meet requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and maintains audit findings which are representative of the quality performance of the item under audit with the intent of enabling the company or vendor to maintain its quality system.
- Experience in the creation and issuance of CARs or CAPAs.
- Experience with, and the ability to assist departments in performing an effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to determine the most appropriate Root Cause and to ensure the Comprehensive Corrective Action (CCA) or actions applied are acceptable and have proven effective in the mitigation of risk to a level that is ALARP.
- Ability to maintain the Ascent Audit and CAR tracking system spreadsheet or experience with similar systems.
- Comply with vendor audit procedures noted in the RSM/QCM and verify sub-contractor ability to work to quality standards which includes review of Quality Assurance surveys and performing on-site audits.
- Performs daily surveillance audits as well as Vendor On-Site (VOS) and Work In-Progress (WIP) audits.
- Experience in the performance of a comprehensive investigation for deficiencies noted as well as damage to Ascent or customer assets.
- Possesses the ability to effectively coach fellow Quality Assurance team members.
- Experience in the performance fuel storage and into plane audits to determine process adequacy and compliance to NFPA 10, NFPA 407, ATA 103, customer fueling requirements, and the Ascent Fuel Control Service Manual (FCSM) requirements. (Preferred)
- Perform cross functional duties with the Training Department.
- Assists in Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement projects and duties as needed.
- Assist in the progression of the organization towards a positive culture thereby improving safety and quality.
- Perform cross functional duties with the Training Department.
- Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and future SMS compliance.
- Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
- Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A comprehensive understanding of 14 CFR Parts 21, 43, 65, 120, 121, 125, 129, 135, and 145.
- A comprehensive understanding of ATAA 103 (Preferred)
- Experienced in the implementation of ISO9001 and/or AS9110 quality management systems, RCA/CAPA systems and continuous improvement programs.
- Experienced in supplier quality control programs.
- Experience auditing to regulations applicable to that organization and/or customer requirements.
- Skilled in the use of MS Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, and PowerPoint® appropriate to job requirements.
- Must have effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Possesses exceptional interpersonal and interview skills with a robust attention to detail.
- Uncompromising dedication to ethical and professional behavior with the intention of ensuring compliance.
- Ability to interpret requirements as well as complex technical data to perform audits in support of organizational, customer, and regulatory requirements and/or standards.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision all the while ensuring exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Ability to apply and interpret data and technical reports in support of trend analysis and communicate results.
- Ability to analyze and understand process flow and perform audit to flow and process requirements.
- Possess a valid A & P Certificate. (Preferred)
Experience: Minimum of 3-years of pertinent Quality Assurance auditing experience with an emphasis on Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Commercial Aviation, and/or ISO9001/AS9110/CASE auditing.
Certificates/Licenses: ASQ certification as CQA, CMQ/OE, or Quality System Lead Auditor certification preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
