1st Shift Buyer/Shift Planner
We are currently looking to hire a full time planner for our manufacturing facility in Addison, IL. The spot pays 65-80K per year and is a direct opportunity.
Summary Purchases raw materials, parts, assemblies, equipment, supplies and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors. Responsible for the scheduling and planning of work to support customer requirements for product. Responsible for the review of factory capacity, materials, availability, and external processing to determine the acceptance of customer requested deliveries. Plans and develops work schedules and priorities based on accepted customer order requirements. Develops and maintains MRP system to support requirements of daily activities for purchasing, assembly, and shop personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement and Engineering to clarify customer and stock requirements and plan master production schedule
Reviews customer service order entry daily to ensure acceptance of order dates.
Reviews current backlog to ensure adequate factory capacity.
Processes and reviews periodic MRP runs for possible actions.
Reschedules orders to support on-time delivery of customer orders.
Review MRP requirements and prepares purchase orders as needed or required to support business operations.
Reviews and sets safety stock levels and system forecast orders.
Modifies MRP parameters for lot size, run periods, and lead-time as required.
Produces work order packages for the assembly and shop areas.
Track, prioritize and report production schedule requirements.
Reviews projected demand/supply requirements and coordinates the release of shop floor orders to meet internal and external customer requirements.
Updates and revises production schedule to maintain alignment with demand/stock plan
Reviews material and labor variances and investigates/coordinates adjustments
Maintains weekly status reports for tracking work progress.
Provides guidance for the modification of orders to meet delivery requirements.
Produce daily shortage reports for expediting purposes.
Review and close work orders as required to maintain system integrity.
Review and recommend modifications to BOM structure and production routers.
Places purchase orders for production, non-production, and service items with approved suppliers.
Establishes strong relationship with key suppliers through regularly scheduled meetings, teleconference, or visits.
Issues requests for quotations to suppliers on new parts and established parts to get competitive bids and updated pricing and delivery schedules.
Negotiates with suppliers to achieve price reductions and maintains a record of cost reduction achievement.
Reviews open order status and provides detailed follow-up to ensure on-time delivery of goods to requested purchase order dates.
Resolves supplier billing discrepancies.
Works with the receiving department and quality assurance department to resolve orders with documentation and quality discrepancies.
