Electrician - Cockeysville, MD
Shift: M-F 1st 7am - 3pm
Pay: up to $27
Perform installation, maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic equipment used for a variety of production plant facilities and projects.
Electrician Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs, repairs and maintains electrical/electronic equipment, as needed.
- Ensures that the installation and repairs of equipment complies with agency policy and local codes and regulations.
- Replaces units or parts, such as starters, contact switches, and other control panel components.
- Tests newly installed and pre-existing electrical/electronic equipment.
- Orders replacement parts for equipment.
- Identifies and confirms timeframe for completion of repairs.
- Assists with the planning and scheduling of repair projects.
- Uses precision tools such as amp meters, voltage meters, dial indicators and RPM indicators.
- Assist management in training staff in proper operation of electrical systems.
- Works with management and other maintenance staff to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for electric/electronic equipment. Operates county vehicles.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Electrician Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED plus 5 years of experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment.
- Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to 3 years of the required experience.
- Must be able to pass a standard physical exam for this job series.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and arms to handle equipment. and able to lift 50 lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions including cold, heat, wind rain, snow, mud, ice and dust. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
