Machinist
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Conventional Machinist with experience running manual lathes and mills for an opportunity in Wichita, Kansas.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Machinist operates a manual mills and lathes to fabricate aerospace parts per engineering specifications without supervision.
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers
- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
- Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
- Run Bridgeport Mill, Cincinnati Mill, Leadwell 3 Axis (CNC Mill)and CNC Lathes
- Will need to multi-task with multiple machines
Qualifications and requirements:
- Three years plus experience running a manual lathe or mill.
- Proven ability to consistently run good parts that meet production standards.
- Strong skills and aptitude in math.
- Ability to perform basic functions with MS Windows-based computer operating systems, such as opening and closing files.
- Must be willing to work any shift.
- Must be willing to work overtime (as requested).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
