School Bus Technician

LAUNCH TransTechs is looking for a School Bus Technician to diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on a fleet of school buses in North Charleston, SC.

Pay: $16 per hour, depending on experience

Shift: M – F, 1st shift

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, technical manuals, and expertise.
• Performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, company heavy equipment to maximize safe operations, typical repairs include but not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, industrial systems 480V, balers, conveyor systems compactors.
• Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings using mechanic hand tools.
• Replace conveyor belts, electrical motors, hydraulic cylinders and other mechanical parts.
• Reads and interprets VCRs (Vehicle Condition Reports) and or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and or equipment operators for clarification of problems.
• Completes paperwork associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied work times.
• Completes daily consumable report to records hours, fuel and oil usage and provide information for input into Republic Services Dossier (Fleet Management Software) system.
• May repair and install plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
• Follow all safety protocols policies procedures.
• Performs maintenance on rolling stock (forklifts, skid steers, trailers and front loaders).
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 2+ years of related equipment maintenance and repair or trade school certification.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Must have steel toe boots.
• Must have own tools.
• Must be able to pass FMCSA DOT Drug Screen.
• CDL preferred, but not required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
