2nd Shift Quality Inspector
A client of ours up in Lake Zurich is looking for a 2nd Shift Quality Inspector. They will be working from 3:30PM to 12AM, Monday through Friday and making anywhere from $17 to $20p/hour. The ideal candidate would have 1 to 4 years of experience within a manufacturing CNC environment. Further details below.
JOB PURPOSE
To support the manufacturing plant from a quality/inspection perspective & ensure the quality of products produced internally or externally meets requirements through the measurement and validation of product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure customer requirements of products are met by means of:
- Approval of production First piece submissions
- Receiving Inspection for Outside Operations
- Roaming In-process Inspection
- Final Inspection
- Dimensional Layout inspection (FAIR and ISIR)
- Verification of material certificates issued to the customer
- Verification of counts and job operation closure/sign-off
- Initiate and close Non-conformance reports using database systems
- Internal Calibration of production intent gauges
- Verification and disposition of vendor defects
- Facilitate containment activities of non-conforming product
- Destruction of Aerospace Non-conforming product
- Participation in Material Review Board for disposition of products
- Effectively communicate verbally and via e-mail
- Prepare documentation packages to support Quality
- Minor assembly of Aerospace products (i.e. Torque Pins)
- Act as customer Self Release Designate (If assigned/trained)
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gage setting and verification
- Participate in GR&R and process capability studies
- Conduct Process control studies
- Conduct training on the proper setting, use, and handling of measurement equipment
- Support and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives
- Participation in department 5S and housekeeping tasks

- Work overtime when necessary
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have knowledge of proper use of a wide variety of measuring instruments including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, depth gages, height gages, thread rings, thread plugs, profilometers, comparators, bore gages, pin gages, GO/NOGO plug gages, snap gages, radius gages
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and understand process route
- Good written and verbal communication
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Advanced blueprint reading and understanding of GD&T principles
- Proper measuring techniques with a variety of gages
- Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials
- Strong mechanical aptitude
COURSEWORK OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior quality inspection of CNC machined products experience required
- 1-4 years of experience required
- Prior experience in a ISO approved facility required, AS9100 preferred
- Prior experience executing programs on a CMM is preferred
LICENSES / Certificates
- ASQ certified Quality Inspector or Technician preferred
