LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Welder for a position in Coxsackie, New York.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Welder III lays out, fits, and welds fabricated and machined components to assemble structural forms such as inlet ducts, drain assemblies, and various aircraft structural and sheet metal components.

  • Ability to pass vision exam requirements per weld spec AWS D17.1 is critical to this position.
  • Proficient in writing Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
  • Able to design, build or rework tooling as needed.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting issues.
  • Is a Certified Weld Inspector.
  • Can work independently and is capable of training others to complete complex welding jobs.
  • Has achieved the necessary experience to successfully solve manufacturing problems.
  • Utilizes leadership skills towards achieving Manufacturing Cell goals.
  • Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on Titanium, Nickel, Aluminum and stainless steel alloys ranging from .032 to .125” thick sheet stock.
  • Weld on circumferential positioners, performing groove and fillet welds.
  • Understands and follows internal and external customer specifications that govern welding processes.
  • Perform entry-level TIG welding operations on a line of standard and repetitive parts as specified by layout, welding diagram or work instructions.
  • Proficient ability to read and interpret sketches and engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Able to effectively utilize basic shop math skills, e.g. fractions and decimals.
  • Proficient with the use of all inspection equipment including height gage, dial indicators, micrometers, scales pi tapes and calipers.
  • Able to read, understand and advocate for internal procedures and policies.
  • Understands and follows through on both verbal and written instructions.
  • Understands and uses the concepts taught relating to Lean Manufacturing Principles and 6-S guidelines.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on table or floor, or clamps parts together along lay out marks.
  • Provides tool design criteria to IPT for tool fabrication as required.
  • Provides manufacturing times and procedures to the quoting process as required.
  • Certified or able to be certified to weld all required joints and positions.
  • Examines work of other welders periodically to verify that deposited welds and pertinent dimensions are within specified limits.
  • Team oriented with continuous improvement outlook.
  • Is familiar with basic BAAN sessions to effectively resolve schedule and planning issues
  • Observes and advocates all safety rules while performing tasks.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts/tools per rework instructions.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of GD&T and has attended a GD&T introductory course.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling
    parts.
  • Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting, spot welding and seam welding.
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Properly adjusts welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and/or pulse as specified by work order or joint welding procedure.
  • 3-plus years of GTAW (TIG) thin gage welding experience in lieu of formal training.
  • Occasional use of sheet metal equipment including rolls, snips, die grinders, dollies and Planisher.
  • Assists the Cell Team Leader and M.E. in audit preparations.
  • Conducts cell Safety and 6S audits.
  • Is able to proficiently weld inside of an argon welding chamber or glove box.
  • Can identify weld fixture or tooling deficiencies and recommend a repair or improvement to the Cell M.E.
  • Has basic MS office skills and can create spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Is a certified first piece inspector.
  • Is a Certified Visual Weld Inspector.
  • Has gained experience on all of the DASNY work statement.
  • Has read and understands F-SOP-150 and F-SOP-180.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Qualifications and requirement:

  • 3+ years of GTAW (TIG) thin gage welding experience in lieu of formal training.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on, thin gage work experience required
  • Ability to pass vision exam requirements per weld spec AWS D17.1 is critical to this position.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must qualify for any and all required certificates.
  • Certified or able to be certified to weld all required joints and positions.
  • Is a certified first piece inspector.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Annual baseline hearing test is required.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass Background Check and Urinalysis.
