Quality Manager
Position Summary
Lead and develop a high-performance team of inspectors and quality engineers to achieve goals and expectations within the department. Responsible for team training, evaluation and development as well as inspection and quality process improvements needed to support customer requirements and on-time delivery schedules. Ensure that all special operations such as FAIs, Calibration and Internal Audits are completed correctly and on time
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead all efforts required to maintain adherence to the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) and quality certifications
- Manage the QA team including training, coaching and regular performance evaluations.
- Develop within the QA team a cooperative, collaborative spirit in their dealings with each other as well as peers, colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Monitor productivity and cost effectiveness of the QA department; develop and sponsor projects to improve efficiency, streamline processes and reduce costs.
- Develop, maintain and regularly publish performance indicators and metrics on the site’s performance.
- Establish and maintain the Quality department’s internal audit process.
- Manage all quality audits and ensure that all findings are satisfied suitably and in timely fashion
- Initiate and follow-up on Corrective Actions, Calibration and Quality Process Improvements (scrap reduction, rework reduction, etc.).
- Work effectively with all levels within the organization to resolve conflicting priorities and obtain cooperation to expediently achieve company goals.
- Embrace a continuous improvement environment and encourage changes that result from improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Significant experience with aerospace quality systems and AS9100 requirements
- Experience in managing a department with both direct and indirect reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and corrective action implementation skills
- A track record of significant continuous improvement efforts
- Good interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to manage and lead
- A four-year degree in a technical discipline, typically science or engineering.
- Excellent computer skills including ERP experience.
