Service Shop Manager

LAUNCH TransTechs is seeking a Service Shop Manager to manage and coordinate activities of diesel mechanics/technicians engaged in maintaining and repairing med./hvy. duty diesel vehicles in Garden City Park, NY.

Shift: M - F, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Pay: $65K per year, depending on experience

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the shop is profitable, running efficiently and safely. This will be done by monitoring P&L, scheduling work, training staff and liaising with customers.
• Determines job schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, the quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
• Monitors employees' work levels and reviews work performance.
• Monitors tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops and ensure adequate working conditions.
• Investigates accidents and injuries, and prepares reports of findings.
• Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
• Compiles operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
• Counsels employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies. Examines vehicles or systems and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
• Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 5+ years of management or advisor experience of a truck repair service facility in a Dealership/Billable shop environment (preferably heavy-duty truck and /or equipment.)
• CDL preferred.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Experience in motivating, managing and leading team of Service Mechanics.
• Possess a proven strong customer service background.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Inspector license on heavy-duty vehicles a must
