Director of Quality

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Director of Quality for an opportunity in Marana, AZ.

 

JOB PURPOSE

           

The Director of Maintenance is responsible to the VP of Operations for the overall management of the assigned business unit to achieve operational objectives. The DOM ensures that all repair station maintenance is compliant with the FAA accepted RSM/QCM and with applicable FAA regulatory requirements and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines for which the repair station is rated (e.g. EASA, Aruba, etc.). 

 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Essential Job Functions:

           

  • Directs and supervises assigned business unit ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations, and company policies and procedures and that the technical data and procedure manuals are reviewed and available.
  • Ensures positive employee relations is maintained promoting Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Ensures that the Company’s management principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced. 
  • Provide positive leadership in customer relations and customer satisfaction for maintenance related issues.
  • Establish and execute programs to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and cost control.
  • Ensures adequate labor, support services, tooling, and equipment are appropriate to meet short and long-range operational objectives.
  • Ensures technical resources have the training and certification levels required to maintain compliance with Repair Station and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with the business unit leaders and supporting department leaders to establish work priorities, workflow and standards, as well as, analyze and resolve work problems and remain available for consultation of matters relating to work being performed.
  • Directs and develops short and long-range plans and schedules for assigned business unit as necessary for compliance with customer requirements in a cost effective, timely manner.
  • Develops and recommends budget, authorizes expenditures, and approves budget and expenses of subordinates.
  • Monitors performance of subordinates. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling.
  • Effective communicate plans and progress within areas of responsibility.
  • Consults with all segments of management responsible for policy or action. Makes recommendations for improving effectiveness of policy or practices.
  • Acts within scope of authority and consistent with company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices and develops programs or procedures employing original ideas and methods as necessary.
  • Coordinates with customers regarding projects in work.
  • Coordinates with other departments/directors as necessary.
  • Presents update of departmental activities at management meetings.
  • Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Ensures that the area of work is maintained in an audit ready status. This includes parts tags, parts racks, use of technical data and general housekeeping.

 

 

SMS REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Will provide top-level resources and support to SMS compliance, FAA regulations, safe workplace initiatives/practices, and to eliminate health hazards.
  • Will consider all employee suggestions to propose solutions, and/or possible improvements for achieving a safer, healthier workplace.
  • Will monitor, measure and track safety objectives to ensure performance standards are met and to implement continuous improvement measures. 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize and plan work, adhering to deadlines; excellent communication skills including ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow and administer verbal and written instruction; ability to prioritize and delegate multiple work projects; ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization; excellent presentation skills and ability to favorably represent the company; excellent leadership, two-way communication, judgement, creativity, negotiation and conflict resolution skills; ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities; ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; strong knowledge of human behavior and management techniques.

 

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required.  Four years in Aviation Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required.

 

Experience:   Ten to fifteen years experience in aircraft maintenance preferred.

 

Certificates/Licenses:  Must hold a valid FAA A&P License/certificate and current valid Arizona driver’s license.
