Machinist/Grinder
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Machinist/Grinder with experience operating conventional grinders for an opportunity in Sun Valley, California.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Machinist/Grinder is responsible for efficiently machining precision parts in accordance to blueprints/drawings and manufacturing outline requirements, which meet all customer and site specifications. In all actions, supports site’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other site policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.
- Set up and operate conventional grinder, including internal and outside diameter (I.D & O.D.) cylindrical, centerless, and surface grinders (i.e. Crystal Lake, Okamoto, Nippei, Harig, etc.)
- Use precision measuring equipment such as internal and external micrometers, gage blocks, dial indicators, air gages and optical comparators.
- Mount dress and true a suitable type, size, and grade of grinding wheel to achieve blueprint requirements.
- Grind to a tolerance of ± .0001
- Set-up, use tooling fixtures and arbors to run parts with minimum supervision and yield on 1st piece.
- Complete all required documentation such as time cards, work orders, preventive maintenance logs, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or tasks for other work centers as requested in order to accommodate customer requirements and workflow within the plant.
- Actively participate in work center and cross-functional process improvement teams.
- Follow all work center and site production, administration, and safety policy procedures, including work schedule and overtime requirements.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training.
Qualifications and requirements:
- 2+ years of recent experience as a grinder.
- Must be willing to perform other functions and duties as assigned by managers and supervisors.
- Must be willing to work any shift.
- Must be willing to work overtime (as requested).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
