Aviation Meteorologist

 

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking an Aviation Meteorologist opportunity in Atlanta, GA.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • All applicants must be willing to to work rotating shifts (early morning, afternoon/evenings and midnight shifts), holidays and have rotating days off.
  • Overtime will be required at times.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science or related discipline, or equivalent military training is required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in aviation forecasting, but we are willing to train depending upon other qualifications. This position requires proficiency in Windows applications and general PC knowledge along with excellent oral and written skills

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Knowledge of both Upper Air and Surface Meteorology are necessary to analyze, summarize current and forecast future atmospheric conditions affecting airline operations worldwide.
  • This also includes coordinating collection and production of weather products for atmospheric related information, such as volcanic ash, tropical systems and space weather with external sources. Many of these products are disseminated within Company and externally as needed via the Company copyrighted TP System.
  • Deliver accurate, timely and pertinent current and forecast information to decision makers in a customer oriented manner is of utmost importance.
  • Decision makers include Dispatchers, Sector Manager, Pilots, Airport Customer Service representatives as well as all individuals responsible for the safety and efficiency of the operations.
  • External contract customers also have decision makers that rely on information provided to them.
  • Knowledge of external government and private sources of weather observations and forecast and how they are disseminated throughout Airline.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills to prepare and conduct scheduled and unscheduled written and verbal briefings.
  • Practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
  • Maintain concentration and focus under time and environmental pressure and be able to quickly respond to weather related operational requests.
