Ground Support Equipment Design Engineer
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Design Engineer for an opportunity in Atlanta, GA.
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Engineering Group has the primary responsibility to define and develop specifications and coordinate the selection, procurement, and acceptance of over 25 classes of aircraft ramp and terminal support equipment in accordance with the operational requirements expressed by the using departments and governmental requirements. This equipment is defined as “Anything that supports the aircraft and operation on the ground.” GSE Engineering determines proper type of equipment and assures for appropriate interfacing with all types of Delta aircraft.
Responsibilities:
This position assists the GSE Engineers and includes the following duties:
- Become familiar with Compnay aircraft and understand interface requirements with mobile and stationary equipment
- Evaluate equipment characteristics with operators at airport facilities
- Investigate equipment modification requests and review vendor responses (some day trips domestically may be required)
- Develop and create ground support equipment drawings using AutoCad computer software
- Write new equipment specifications and conduct service tests
- Create mock-up modifications with GSE Maintenance groups
- Generate Engineering Authorizations (EA) within EARTH (Documentum) software
- Coordinate with Maintenance and User Groups worldwide to schedule EA’s respective to ground support equipment. This includes preparation and distribution of compliance cards and record keeping of EA compliance documentation.
- Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Develops both strategic & tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in engineering or related technical field.
- Five (5) years overall experience, preferably in an automotive or mechanical field.
- Must have strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with CAD systems and MS Office programs.
- Must have strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical designs, materials, and operation.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks, projects, and reporting functions and meet deadlines required by the customer. Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and other technical information, as well as effectively generate detailed engineering documents.
- Must be an effective project manager, presenting good communication skills and a professional appearance.
- Preferred: Knowledge of industry standards relating to airline ground support equipment (IATA, SAE, NFPA, DOT, etc.).
