Upholstery Technician

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Upholstery Technicians for an opportunity in Fort Worth, Texas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Interior Mechanics will maintain, inspect, repair, modify, overhaul and troubleshoot commercial aircraft in compliance with policies, manuals, procedures and requirements.

• Upholsters parts according to work orders and engineering drawings. Responsible for foam build up, pattern making, cutting seat coverings, sewing using multiple types of stitching, seat cover sacking, carpet cutting and surging.
• Estimates material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform job.
• Sets up and operates tools to cut, cover and complete components of the job.
• Bonds components as required.
• Maintains work order and calls for inspection as necessary.
• Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Must be able to perform foam build-up, pattern seats/divans, and install seat and divan covers.
• Must be familiar with aircraft adhesive processes.
• Must be and to read drawings and have experience signing off work.

Qualifications and requirements: 

• At least seven years of experience with VIP Aircraft Seat Upholstery.
• Per FAA requirements Upholsterers must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Understanding of upholstery standards and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of VVIP aircraft upholstery techniques, standards, and use of all equipment; such as sewing machines, surging machines, foam saws, etc.
• Knowledge of all Company upholstery machinery and ability to set up each machine.
• Able to operate upholstery machinery.
• Quality orientation and attentive to detail.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Strong supervisory abilities.
• B737 and 777 modification experience preferred.
• Must have the minimum tools as required.
• Must be willing to work any shift.
• Must be willing to work overtime (as requested).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
