Production Line Lead
Our facility in Lake Zurich is looking for an experienced Production Line Lead to come in and make a quick impact on our Medical Device production team. This is a 2nd Shift Role, from 3PM to 11PM, Monday to Friday with little OT. Please see below for further detail:
Position Summary |
The Line Lead position performs direct manufacturing activities in the production department in support of the department objectives to provide goods and services that meet customer’s requirements for quality, quantity and timeliness.
Duties and Responsibilities |
· Responsible to follow companies Quality system, including all applicable SOP's included in the Training Matrix
- Leader using expertise in respective Product Lines with a focus on…
o Follow daily or weekly build schedule and align personnel as needed – delegate responsibilities, maintain line efficiency
o Track product status and communicate status to Supervisor and/or other groups
o Continuous process & productivity improvement – suggest improvements, support engineering
o Communication of yield issues, first level of escalation, stop line as necessary – maintain quality
o Manage cross-training of team members and establish absentee backup plans – work with supervisor to maintain adequate staffing
o Completion of all paperwork as required to maintain proper records
o Assemble product, about 25% of time or on as-needed basis
· Documentation Support
o Coordinate LHR and associated documents to start product
o Paperwork/LHR review – daily checks, blanks filled in, perform reconciliation and prepare for approval
o Support NCR creation and resolution
o Track daily production of product, on paper or by computer as requested. Ensure accurate yield and production logs
· Line setup / management
o Perform line clearance activities
- Confirm all employees have tablets open at beginning of work
- Ensure all employees are trained or have signed training records
- Confirm audit is conducted near the beginning of work
o Startup and periodic spot check (daily, at minimum) line for errors
o Submit material requisitions
o Gathers and distributes materials as required to ensure area of responsibility is working in an efficient, effective and safe manner
o Performs job start-up, tool set-ups and changeovers as required
· Management of people
o Ensures that company established practices are followed and maintained – lead by example, address issue if appropriate, elevate to management if necessary
- Includes break schedule, documentation practices, etc.
o Ensures strict adherence to safety requirements and CER requirements (e.g. proper gowning)
o Assists assemblers with assembly problems, escalate as necessary
o Ensure assemblers are properly trained before independently performing a procedure
o Maintain confidential information, in accordance with Company policy
· Contact technician (first), Supervisor or engineering for maintenance and repairs of manufacturing equipment as necessary
· Maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork and a pleasant workplace – escalate to management or HR as necessary

· Demonstrated assembly skills on a complete assembly line or variety of products
· Demonstrated good judgement
· Demonstrated leadership and work ethics
· Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliable and punctual, including break-times
· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage small groups of assemblers without favoritism
· Understanding of acceptable levels of safety and quality requirements
Education |
· Vocational – High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
· Technical training or relevant experience a strong plus
Experience |
· Medical device production experience preferred
· Prior supervisory experience preferred
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
· Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking)
· Able to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and other areas to ensure that quality and delivery objectives are met
· Able to juggle a variety of tasks on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
· Have a good basic level of mechanical ability
· Able to work under a microscope
· Ability to use a variety of measurement tools, such as rulers and calipers
· Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as tweezers, razor blade, scalpel, wire cutter, clippers, needle nose pliers, screwdriver and Allen wrenches
· Ability to use a variety of assembly equipment such as lab oven, glue dispenser, heat gun and soldering iron
